Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek out chiropractic care. While back pain can present itself in many ways, it is a highly common and often debilitating condition that is typically the result of structural misalignment and mechanical disorders of the spine and the associated, tendons, muscles, ligaments and nerves. Back pain as a symptom can be experienced in many ways, from a general dull ache through to a sharp localized stabbing sensation. Back pain may be constant or intermittent, with pain often getting worse when people are active or conversely when they are seated for extended periods. Here at Healing Wave Chiropractic, we aim to address back pain by identifying and addressing the underlying physical causes and implementing appropriate and effective chiropractic care to restore quality of life.
In order to effectively address back pain, it's important to ask the right questions and conduct a detailed physical examination. While most back complaints are a result of structural problems or lifestyle patterns, each case is different and needs to be analysed in isolation. Common causes of back pain include muscle strain, sports injuries, overuse, poor posture, heavy lifting, and myofascial pain that affects the surrounding connective tissue. More serious problems can also present as back pain, including scoliosis, vertebrae fractures, degenerative disk disease, and hyperkyphosis. Addressing the underlying cause of the pain and obtaining long term relief from its symptoms, will depend on the age and health of the person, and the likely source of the problem.
